Except for the movie...aren't all the creatures in Yu-Gi-Oh just holograms?

Yes. Yes they are.

Edit: Until a fanboy comes on ranting about how we are wrong

They are not holograms. Holograms are three dimensional recordings captured on mostly 2 dimensional surfaces, taking advantage of the special property of certain surfaces to record a different image depending on the angle at which light intersects it. It is the same effect as how a striped pole looks different colors depending on the angle you view it, but applied on a microscopic scale. The phenomenon in Yu-Gi-Oh is entirely nonsensical, as even if a substance existed that only affected its environment by producing light, spontaneously creating that substance across the battlefield would violate basic thermodynamics. Thus it can only be called a cinematic effect, and not applied to any phenomenon in reality, including holograms.

...okay, that was TOTALLY an attempt at saying something "complex" to sound smart...

Didn't they start out as holograms but something happened that made them real? I can't really remember since never really kept up with the anime. I thought Kiba might have had something to do with it...

I thought you meant our Kiba for a second.

If you watch the show long enough it turns out that they are real creaturs, the creator in the show of the card game just made cards to look as the stone tablets that the soccorers use. Later in the show Kiba makes halogram teck so they go from being real creatures, to being sealed in tablets, to being playing cards, to being playing cards that can be used in a halogram item, to being real creatures again.

Everybody needs to vent now and then. Or, prove how smart they are, when some people really dont give a shit what they are talking about. I know it's one or the other. =/
