Above all:
Material that is allowed here is purely subject to interpretation. The following guide is the best we could come up with to try and give you a good idea.
As you'll soon find out if you haven't already, there is no simple definition for the furry material allowed here. You'll just need to hang around for awhile to really get a feel for things. The main thing to remember is to keep the material extremely cute :3
Our official "definition":
Wild Critters is a yiffy archive of creatures that we affectionately dub as "Critters". If you're familiar at all with the Japanese language, these could be described in one word as "Erokawakemono" which would essentially be "erotic cute beast" in English. However, this is a loose translation as this is not a real word.
For all of you familiar with furry terms, "Critter" essentially refers to a term all-encompassing "feral" furries, "cubs" and furry toddlerkon in a style that can obviously be defined as "kawaii" or cute, as in the sickly-sweet saccharine type of cuteness typically found in Japanese culture. Hopefully the above image gives you a good idea of where we stand.
Take a look around at images that are already posted to familiarize yourself with what we consider a "critter" to be. The first rule-of-thumb is that critters are almost always influenced by anime styling and proportioning. Critters are almost always minimally anthropomorphic, meaning that they are just one notch up from being purely animal. Often, they are chibi-style and have a stylized overemphasis around the eyes and overall facial expressions. All "critters" are characterized by having a naturally childlike, sweet and innocent demeanor and personality. This can also be demonstrated in a sense of coyness or shyness about the character and/or childlike innocence/happiness. Many critters also have a visual emphasis on their fur or fluffiness, indicating a soft, plush-like nature. "Baby-fat" is also a very common feature found on critters, as well as plumpness around the butt area and thighs.
Well-known examples of a "critter" are Ryo-Ohki from Tenchi Muyo, many of the lower evolution Pokemon, many of the Rookie-level Digimon, Kirara/Kilala from Inuyasha, Hello Kitty, the villagers from Animal Crossing, Hamtaro, Mimigas from Cave Story and Klonoa. These are just a few examples; There are countless more and we have a fairly wide range of tolerance.
An additional note:
ANY furry can be drawn in a style which would make it allowed here. It just has to more or less comply by the guidelines above. For example, even though Renamon and Krystal are definitely considered anthropomorphic, they could easily be drawn in a style which would make them valid material here. The following image is a great example of this as it shows Renamon in a more kawaii, chibi-like form rather than her normal, busty anthro form:
