She hasn't said anything about it, so this is all just my own speculation, but...

Minatsu's an incredibly popular artist. Often times when she posts something to Pixiv it becomes one of the top posts on the site for a day or two. She has over 5,000 followers on Twitter. You'll be hard pressed to find another kemono artist with that many (I can't find any offhand?). In fact, Kemono no Koshikake is one of the very few kemono circles that has become a "wall circle" at Comiket -- meaning that it's in the top tier of popularity. And I even see her stuff show up on Reddit sometimes. How many kemono or even furry artists can you say that about?

The reason that she's so insanely popular is because she draws cute Pokemon (and I'm not talking about porn here). Everyone knows Pokemon so the popularity of the characters she uses in combination with her unique art style are what make her so popular.

In comparison, on the porn side of things, kemono is very niche - more so than furry is in the West. That's why people that draw original kemono (let's say, Chibineco, Dogear, Mayoineko, etc.) are less popular than her in general. Because Pokemon is popular. People that only draw Pokemon porn are less popular than her because they don't get the mainstream audience, only the furries. And people that only draw Pokemon but not porn, no offense to them, but from what I've seen they're often not the best artists.

So basically she has both the skill and the access to a mainstream audience. Now, if she makes porn, the audience for that is only the small number of furries. She's probably realized that and decided to focus more on the mainstream audience. And if she's at Comiket and she has furry porn lying on her booth together with cute non-porn stuff, the mainstream people will be grossed out. And that's most likely the reason that she doesn't post porn to Pixiv anymore (only if it's advertising a new book).

As for the future, I don't think she's completely given up on porn. She probably just wants to sell family friendly books at Comiket, and focus more on the furry side at Kemoket out of the view of her mainstream audience. Which is why she always makes a Vee Family series (which started as porn but is now family friendly, kinda funny) book and some other No-H original book for Comiket. It is a tad worrisome that for Kansai Kemoket she didn't make a new R-18 book... but I wouldn't worry until this May. I figure she'll probably be selling the next installation of the Love Series or Kudamonogatari in Kemoket then.

Being a kemono artist sure is serious business.

The fact that she's starting to attend Comitia now tells me that she's really focusing on her original works. She's got this thing going where she partners cats with random things and turns them into adorable love stories, and those are pretty popular with the general crowds. Then there's Kudamonogatari which is pretty popular with the furry crowd.

She doesn't own the copyright privileges for Pokemon, so that limits what she can do with anything Pokemon related. Whereas with her own original works she can sell them online and at events like Comitia as well. And I imagine as an artist it's more satisfying to create something original than it is to create fan art.

Anyway this is still all my own speculation. She has a pattern of releasing Buikka books at Comikets so that might happen in August, who knows. I'd personally like to see the Love series finished before she quit pokeporn, but I still enjoy the books she's putting out.
